SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) - Brazil midfielder [cenzēts] wed an 18-year-old Brazilian student on Friday in Sao Paulo in a ceremony attended by soccer stars Ronaldo, Cafu and Roberto Carlos.
The 23-year-old [cenzēts] and Caroline Celico tied the knot in front of about 600 guests at the evangelical Reborn in Christ Church.
After the wedding, the couple offered what was called "a simple party'' at an upscale hotel, [cenzēts]'s spokesman Diogo Kotscho said.
Among the guests were several of [cenzēts]'s teammates in Brazil's national team, including Roque Junior, Dida and Ze Roberto. Julio Baptista, Ricardinho and Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira also were present.
Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf - [cenzēts]'s teammate at AC Milan - Sao Paulo state Gov. Geraldo Alckmin and Sao Paulo Mayor Jose Serra also were invited, but their presence was not immediately confirmed.
[cenzēts] and Celico, who will live in Italy, have been together since meeting nearly three years ago in Brazil, when the bride was 16. Celico finished high school this year, and plans to earn a business degree at a university in Milan.
Celico wore a Christian Dior dress, while [cenzēts] - whose real name is Ricardo Izecson Santos Leite - was in a Giorgio Armani suit.
The couple will honeymoon at an undisclosed location outside Brazil, Kotscho said.
[cenzēts] is a regular starter for Brazil and is nearly certain to play in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He was a member of the squad that won the 2002 Cup in Japan and South Korea.
The player's wedding attracted a lot of media attention locally, although not nearly as much as the lavish wedding of Greek billionaire Athina Roussel Onassis and Brazilian Olympic equestrian Alvaro Afonso de Miranda on Dec. 3.
Both events were sealed off to the media and anyone not carrying an invitation.
In February, Ronaldo and Brazilian model and television hostess Daniella Cicarelli celebrated their engagement with a lavish party at a castle north of Paris on Valentine's Day. The couple broke up barely three months after the event.
