Rutgers (3-3) will play host to the #1 team in the land when Ohio State (7-0) comes a calling. Early (10/20) college football odds indicate that Ohio State is a 21 point favorite across the major sportsbook landscape. The Buckeyes hammered Rutgers last season at home 56-14.
Buckeyes receive the Memo
Ohio State has been the overwhelming choice as the #1 team since the onset of this 2015 season. After all, they were the defending national champions, and returned plenty of their weaponry from last year’s team. Heading into last Saturday’s home game against Penn State they were a perfect 6-0, but were less than awe inspiring in doing so. The Buckeyes had failed to cover their last five games in a row, and were 0-4 ATS at “The Horseshoe” in Columbus. That was a bit of concern from the Buckeyes faithful, especially considering they were facing a Penn State team that came to town riding a five game winning streak. Well they responded to the memo asking for a dominating performance, and easily defeated Penn State 38-10 in addition to covering as a 18.5 point favorite.
Momentum abounds for Scarlet Knights
Rutgers is coming off an improbable come from behind win last week at Indiana. They trailed 52-27 in that contest late in the 3rd quarter, and proceeded to score 28 unanswered points to come away with a thrilling 55-52 win. The good news is they won, and then bad news was their defense continues to be torched against quality opponents. Rutgers has allowed opponents to amass 471 yards or more in four of six games this season. The lone exceptions came against Norfolk State that competes at the FCS level, and a winless Kansas team. They’ll have their hands full again on Saturday, facing an Ohio State offense averaging 39.7 points and 494.0 yards per game during their previous four contests.
I hate laying points on the road period, let alone this many. The flip side to that equation, I don’t take underdogs that I feel have an unrealistic chance of winning outright. This is a terrible matchup for Rutgers on many fronts, and prompts me to have a small lean toward the road favorite for one of my college football picks.

Santos are in 4th place in the table they have won 4 and lost 3 of their last 7 league games played, winning in their last game at home 3-1 against Goias. The last 2 head to heads this fixed Santos won and although they are generally not so good on the road I feel they are in the better form over all as the table reflexes and should win this away game tonight.

Tomas Berdych (1) vs Jack Sock (7)
Tomas Berdych extended his winning streak in Stockholm to 11 matches after Marcos Baghdatis retirement on semifinals. The courts in Stockholm are extremely fast and Berdych powerful groundstrokes are quite effective on them.
After losing the first three finals of the year, Tomas returned to titles few weeks ago in Shenzhen. The Czech has been playing very solid tennis this week after a disappointing heavy loss in Shanghai against Andy Murray.
After being broken twice in the first match against Alexander Zverev, Berdych raised the level on serve, not being broken a single time in the following matches against Grigor Dimitrov and Baghdatis.
It has been an outstanding run for Jack Sock this week; the American reaches his second career final after a massive performance on semifinals. Despite having a very tough draw, Jack managed to overcome three former top 10 players: Fernando Verdasco, Gilles Simon and Richard Gasquet.
As we said in our semifinals preview, Sock has been extremely strong under pressure. This week the American won 77.4% of points when facing break point and converted 50.0% of break point chances.
They played recently in Shanghai, where Berdych emerged victorious by 7 – 6 4 – 6 6 – 4. Sock had many opportunities on that match but was far from strong on pressure points, finishing the match with 3 of 14 break points converted.
The American should be able to put a good fight on this match, Sock’s forehand has been impressive and will open the court very well forcing Berdych to move. Both have been serving at great level and there should be at least one tiebreak on this match.
