From the San Jose Mercury News:
Bellinelli and Wright may be available
From the San Jose Mercury News1
Brandan Wright and Belinelli, both deep in Nelson's doghouse as they head into their third seasons, could be unofficial Dead Warriors Walking after Oct. 31.
That's the deadline for the Warriors to pick up their fourth-year options. No pick-up means the player becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer. It's your basic shout of no-confidence.
Even if one or both players' options are picked up, look for Nelson and Riley to try to move both.
That tidbit there is really thought-provoking. Newspaper reporters may not be privy to the inner-workings of a franchise front office, but they tend to have their finger on the pulse and drama of the clubhouse (especially between coach and player) more so than the non-Warrior fan.
If these two players are in Nellie's doghouse, then the fact that they are both due for big raises if they're kept this year and next is a point to consider.
Bellinelli is a great Shooting Guard fit since he's proven to be a pesky defensive player, takes a lot of charges and is solid from the 3point line.

I get the impression from Warrior fans that they like Kaspars Berzins, but likely not on more than a minimum rookie contract (450K), so maybe he could be worked into a sign-and-trade in september.

Unfortunately, I only see a Pavlovic (4.95 mil waived as 1.5) trade as being able to accomodate both those salaries (1.5 bellinelli and 2.6 wright) and for a team that's 9 million under the tax threshold, the only value to them in a contract like Sasha's is if it pushes them into the 12 milliion below the threshold range, allowing them to absorb Boozer's contract (12 mil) or make a free agent signing of Lamar Odom to a contract that dwarfs what the Lakers and Heat could offer. I'm just not sure how interested they are in those players or if Utah would ask too much back from them in a trade.
Either way, it would be a nice pickup to just get bellinelli and if only Alando had an attractive enough jumpshot we could throw him and a minimum contract sign-and-trade of Berzins to pull off an even salary swap. Then Berzins could play with his Latvian national teammate Biedrins.
If only.
But not likely.
