Olympic sliding track is revealed in...
Alpensia Sliding Center, a venue for sliding events during the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics including bobsleigh, skeleton and luge, was unveiled at Alpensia Resort, Pyeongchang on Monday.
With about 67% of the construction complete, test events by International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) and International Luge Federation (FIL) will be held at the center until Mar. 8.
The total length of the track is 2,018 meters to commemorate the year in which Pyeongchang Olympics is being held. However, the length of the track where the actual competitions will take place is 1,857 meters. The track also features 16 curves.
“Alpensia Sliding Center seems to be a moderately difficult course,” said Kang Kwang-bae, former bobsledder, skeleton racer and luger for South Korea and currently a professor at Korea National Sport University.
Jaunā trase ir oficiāli atvērta!
Starp citu šis korejietis - Kang Kwang-Bae debitēja PK posmos tajā pašā sezonā, kad mūsu Tomass (1999-2000). Turklāt 2001.g. PČ sīvi cīnījās ar brāļiem Dukuriem (Kang - 27.v., Martins 28.v., Tomass 29.v.).
