Larijs Aijuso: "Es varu spēlēt labāk"

Šeit Kauņas Žalgira nesenais jaunieguvums Larijs Aijuso ir ļoti labi iejuties Žalgirī, pierādīdams savu klasi pēdējos mačos būdams viens no rezultatīvākajiem komandā gan Eirolīgas, gan BBL mačos. Lūk šeit, BBL.net intervija ar Lariju:
http://www.bbl.net/UserFiles/Image/ayuso_puertoriko.jpg

Citāts:

BC Zalgiris Kaunas newcomer Larry Ayuso is becoming more and more valuable to his team. Puerto Rico native is adapting to European basketball quickly and it can be seen in his statistics. Larry is averaging 19,8 points, 2,8 rebounds, 1,2 assists and 1,8 steals per game in SEB BBL.

- How do you feel being in this team?

- Every single day I feel better. I like this club’ system, players, coaches and all the environment which surrounds me in Kaunas. I’m training and improving every day, so hopefully I’ll perform better.

- Do you think that you’re in the best possible shape already?

- I don’t think so, I’m sure I can play better. I’m in a good shape, but not in a perfect though.

- How do you feel playing in SEB Baltic basketball league and Lithuanian league?

- I like it, cause you can play more relaxed there. There are a lot of sharpshooters in those leagues and I’m pleased that I can play in my style – attack the basket from the long range.

- What would you pick if you could choose Euroleague and Lithuanian league?

- Undoubtedly I would play in the Euroleague. There are a lot of basketball leagues in the world, but it also depends on financial things. Basketball is not only a game, it’s business. I wouldn’t say Baltic and Lithuanian league’s matches are not important, all games has the same importance. Even if we sometimes think we’ll play against a weak team and they will be ready to fight, we can loose.

- Probably you know that after some weeks Zalgiris will play against Lietuvos rytas. Will it also be an easy match?

I’m not discomposed about it at all. I don’t think about what it will be after some weeks, I’m just thinking about the upcoming games.

Others on Ayuso:

Scott M. Reid of the Orange County Register: “Already one of the Pac – 10’s premier perimeter shooters, Ayuso has a chance to become one of the league’s leading scorers and top defensive stoppers”.

Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News: “Ayuso is the best shooter and possibly hardest worker on the team…and has lived up to his nickname of ‘El Rifle’, which he gained in his native Puerto Rico.”

Henry Bibby on Ayuso: “Larry is a very good defensive player with good foot-speed and quickness. He’s a solid outside shooter who can help stretch the defense. As one of only two seniors, I expect Larry to take a leadership role this year. He’s been to the NCAA Tournament and knows what it takes to get there.”

New Mexico J. C. 1995-96: Ayuso averaged 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game as a freshman at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico. Ayuso led the Thunderbirds to a 24-11 record and the NJCAA Region 5 Championship. Ayuso, a noted catch-and-shoot three point gunner, was 58-of-153 (39.9%) from the arc and earned team Defensive Player of the Year honors. He played in all 35 of the Thunderbirds’ games and scored 367 points in 665 minutes. Ayuso also was included in Bob Gibbons’ “All Star Sports” list of top freshmen college guards.
